Title: Assistant Land Surveyor
Description: The Assistant Land Surveyor performs a variety of staff and leadworker tasks related to the performance of professional land and engineering survey work involving the establishment and determination of land boundaries, vertical and horizontal control. The Assistant Land Surveyor conducts research pertaining to land or engineering surveying, property titles, descriptions and deeds for the purpose of construction of public works projects, including but not limited to roads, drainage, water, sanitary, bridges, and other structures and projects.
Required Skills/Experience/Education:
Either: 1. Graduation from a four-year curriculum in Surveying, Surveying Engineering or Surveying Geomatics accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
And
One year of full-time paraprofessional experience performing duties related to surveying and boundary determinations.
Or: 2. Possession of a valid California Land Surveyor-in-Training certificate issued by the State of California’s Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists (formerly known as California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors).
And
Four years of full-time paraprofessional experience performing duties related to surveying and boundary determinations.
Salary Range: $6,832.98 - $8,719.14 monthly

I think if you take the word 'Land' out then you can pull it off, I see that often: Associate Surveyor, Project Surveyor, Assistant Surveyor. Just don't use Land Surveyor

I had a long conversation with Jon Scarpa this morning. As a result, I'd like to make clear that I wasn't picking on Sac County (Jon wondered if I'd posted anything about Modesto's title transgression, or that of any of the private firms that also misuse protected titles). He's concerned that I might be making it harder for the county to attract good applicants in an already-challenging employment environment, so in the future I'll plan on first contacting the responsible agency to give them an opportunity to clean up any perceived goofs before calling them out in public.
