Matt Frasier, one of "my guys" at WRG, is now officially allowed to add LSIT after his name!
Matt is a bright guy and absorbs everything about surveying like a dry sponge.
Oh, Matt passed the LSIT first time out of the barrel, too!
Way to go, Matt, I'm proud of you!
And, on another note, California has one more EIT as well! Our very own RobC, alias Robertito Mac, alias Robert McMillan, received word yesterday that he managed to pass the EIT first time out of the barrel, too!

That's great news Ian. My preaching is paying off on this end. I currently have two LS's on my Land Development Division staff, besides myself. One of the two is also a PLS/PE. Since I passed the exam last year, my mentoring has motivated five more members of my staff (all PEs) to apply to take the exam in April. One of them has already passed the NCEES portion last October (letters came out this week). Most of them are taking the CLSA - Los Angeles Chapter review course. Needless to say, there is a lot of surveying discussion going on. I think my Department is finally becoming aware that we cannot rely on pre-1982 PEs (they are all retiring) to meet our responsible charge duties for "office surveying" functions. Our Department, under Steve Steinhoff's direction has a great group of land surveyors in our Survey Division that perform all our field survey functions and ROS/Corner Record functions. However, the majority of them prefer to stay in the field operations (can't blame them) and we can't produce enough licensed professionals to meet our office needs. We have also developed a "responsible charge" field training program to help office staff get the needed field experience to qualify for the exam. This creates the opportunity for the field guys to come into the office to get the "responsible office" training. Unfortunately, the economy has delayed us from implementing the program. The end game is to develop more licensed land surveyors to meet both our field and office needs.

Diane is doing great things with the LA CLSA Chapter. Glad to hear that your colleagues are taking advantage of the opportunitiess available to you. I suggest they consider joining CLSA, and attending Chapter meetings, workshops, and of cours the conference which will be just down the road in San Diego this year. I encourage your field staff to also consider these opportunities, and also to support the local community college surveying programs. College of the Canyons & Santiago Canyon College?
