Santa Barbara County, COUNTY SURVEYOR: $100,000 – 130,000 DOE

Santa Barbara County is seeking a County Surveyor who brings a high level of customer focus, political savvy, technical proficiency and strong leadership ability to lead the County’s Surveyor Division in the Public Works Department. The Public Works Department is an innovative, forward focused, solution oriented, and results driven organization. The Position is at-will, reports to the Director of Public Works, and appointed by the Board of Supervisors. The County Surveyor will lead and oversee division operations, expenditures and contracts, develop and manage an annual budget of approximately $1 million, and supervise 15 field and office staff including: administrative support, GIS Technicians and Specialists, Survey Specialists, Survey Party Chiefs, and the Assistant County Surveyor.

Ideal Candidates will have:
  • A valid Land Surveyor’s License
  • Increasingly responsible professional surveying experience and experience in a supervisory, management, or leadership capacity
  • Practiced surveying in California
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field (desirable)
  • And, ideally a background working in/with a California County land surveying professional environment
