The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works is seeking a Civil Engineering Technician with experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D for computer aided drafting and plan production for civil engineering design projects. The ideal candidate should be certified in advanced areas of AutoCAD Civil 3D use, or possess equivalent experience, with GIS experience a plus, and must have a knowledge of standards, methods, and nomenclature for civil engineering plans. Experience in road, bridge, drainage, water and wastewater construction plans is preferred. The Civil Engineering Technician will be expected to download and process survey data from a total station data collector, including preparation of a 3-D surface from field survey data, and to prepare and upload data to the data collector for construction staking; to work with Engineers and /or Land Surveyors to determine drawing elements needed for each design; to produce required basemapping, plans, profiles, sections, elevations and details; to make revisions to project drawings marked up by the Engineer/Surveyor; and to check final drawings to verify completeness, clarity and accuracy. The ideal candidate will be highly organized and be able to keep track of numerous project files through the various phases of design; will be expected to work in a team environment, with the ability to fully understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and to exercise judgment and initiative in the execution of responsibilities; and will have the ability to perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent projects at various project stages, while managing time and priorities in order to meet project deadlines and budget requirements.
