anyone know the best way for a digital signature in Autocad

For some documents I have a hand drawn signature and then I scanned it as an image file..

I prefer a digital image, as the image is retained on your server and cannot be inadvertently transmitted in a striped down CAD file provided to say an Architect or Engineer in which a draftsman inadvertently omitted purging prior to transmittal. Same for seal.

My standard deliverables consist of a PDF and a DWG. The PDF gets a true digital signature (not an image of my signature), while the DWG gets a block consisting of my seal with the words "SIGNED COPY ON FILE" across it. No signature on the DWG.

Can you elaborate on difference between a true digital signature vs an image? Agree on the PDF deliverable. Certainly not trying to bicker. If there is a a more secure way, especially in these times, to provide a more secure deliverable, I would appreciate the insight.

A digital signature, like a conventional handwritten signature, identifies the person signing a document. Unlike a handwritten signature, a certificate-based signature is difficult to forge because it contains encrypted information that is unique to the signer. It can be easily verified and informs recipients whether the document was modified after the signer initially signed the document.

In my opinion, digital signatures are BAD for surveyors! They only allow authorization for fraud and if you play that game, please send me a copy of your signature, heheheee. If it wasn't bad, why does the recorder require original signatures on documents?

thanks for your comments. it seems many cities are now asking for digital submissions WITH sign and seal. do they have that right?

Really the city is requiring a digital submittal of documents, the board requires survey documents to be signed and sealed, a digital signature is the only way to comply in this instance. As Mr. Pallamary pointed out the law affords us the option of providing this deliverable and you're dog gone right they have the right to request a signed and sealed document.
