The number is a little blurry? How much? Does it still work?

We couldn't find the 12 volt charging cable, but you could probably fire it up with Alligator clips to the plug on the bottom of the unit.

Re: HP 3805 distance meter
Wow, that is pretty awesome for me to see again. I used a HP3808 and a 3810 early in my career. The 08 could measure further than we could see with a naked eye. The peep sight did not have any magnification. We duct taped a 4x Weaver rifle scope to the top to find our tripod and glass.

When those were out, we had four person crews. One of the four crewmember's sole job was to pack that thing for the day and take field notes. It was not a glorious job.

Re: HP 3805 distance meter
I have a bad habit of collectiing useless old survey gear, but I'm afraid this one just isn't worth the ship cost. I bet there are some local high school kids who would love to tinker with the 3805, and they could pick it up without handing over a large sum to UPS.
