SEAL DESIGN

Post by torgsurv »

The board rules specify that "The seal shall be of a design similar to those shown" and "shall bear at minimum those elements specified" in the rules. Has anyone experimented with adding additional elements to their seal design to make it more aesthetic, rather than just the basic design? I couldn't see anything specifically prohibiting that. How similar is "similar"?

Congratulations on the oppertunity to order a seal.
No reason to get fancy or different with your seal. Play it safe and go with the standards. Your license number will be unique enough.

I was thinking of something like the attached image. I used a similar design in Utah with no problems.

It's unique and as long as it works with the statute then you should be fine. You might email that to Ric Moore or someone at the Board to approve it, since that is not a common design.

I hope I'm not being too picky here, but I believe the real issue at hand is to become the best land surveyor that you can be, rather than to be a "stand out" with a flashy certificate. We are all proud of the fact that you have passed the exam (congrats)!

While the clothes may make the man (except the Patriots coach), in Land surveying, its the man who makes his maps, it is also the man who makes his tools ie gps, computor, even shovel.

Do whatever pleases you with your seal design, but remember, the learning has just begun.

best wishes to you keep your eyes and your mind wide open, and follow the footsteps of our forefathers.

"good"
