Has anyone ever seen anything like this? I don't know what I would need to measure these angles! A good way to start the weekend anyway.

It's very simple, really. When it says S 19d 23ft 10in E...
You keep the 19 degrees. Then you take the ground distance, 23'10", and convert it to a geodetic distance. Convert that geodetic distance to an angular distance (in decimal seconds) and add it BACK to the original 19 degrees.
Not all geodesists are realtors, but all realtors are geodesists. =)
Thanks for sharing!

I've seen this a number of times before. The secretary of the attorney for whom the description was written was told to write out the symbols. Instead of using minutes and seconds, she used feet and inches.
The key to this description is that it is valid. You now have three surveyors chiming in to say they could survey the description. That makes a pretty good case for the standard.
Remember that the description need not be understood by a layperson. It need only be survey-able to a COMPETENT land surveyor.
Tally ho! Let's go! Should be fun up in that area somewhere in eastern Siskiyou County from the Township and Range...

You don't even need dimensions, you've got 2" iron pipes called for!

To be fair to those who didn't read my previous post closely: I was being entirely facetious.
