Tentative Parcel Map changes

I have a potential client that has an approved Tentative Parcel Map that shows two parcels. The client now wants only one lot as the final outcome of the final parcel map. I'm thinking that this change should not trigger a lenghty review of the TPM and should be a fairly simple administrative function at the city. Has anyone had to do this before and what was your experience?

I assume this map is for condominium purposes? What is the business reason for only one lot? Does your agency allow tentative map amendment letter requests to change conditions without altering the approved tentative map? If so ask for a condition that grants permission to combine tentative map lots on the final parcel map.

I'm coming in late to this process and would be inheriting it. The original reason for the PM was to merge 8 parcels and reconfigure the site to have two parcels, also the city is requiring an additional street dedication. The project will be a retail store that would span the old parcel lines. This is not a condominium project. The origninal surveyor may have explored the parcel merger restrictions with the city and may have gone that route instead of the parcel map. At this point the PM is the route the client is proceeding with.
