I recently had the opurtunity to attend a meeting hosted by NCEES. I met some wonderful fellow surveyors from all across the US. We all seem to have the same outlook/concerns in business and life.

The purpose of the meeting was to develop a guideline to determine the knowledges required of a person sitting for the NCEES Fundmentals in Surveying Exam, LSIT.

Near the end of August there will be an on-line survey to recieve input from the surveying profession. To be an influence in the future of the LSIT exam requires input from those currently active in the profession.

Calif. has more people sit for the LSIT than most of the rest of the country combined, therefore Calif. needs Calif. professionals to take part and let our voice be heard.

I will post a link when it is avaible and by that time Frank from NC, should be the father of child number 3.

I am a little disapointed due to the lack of hits on this topic, but maybe that is a indication of what is important to the Calif Survey Profession.

For some reason I didn't see this thread before just now. I might have glossed over it as a redundant Lightsquared thread.

At any rate, I'll look for a notice for the online "survey" (term used loosely to mean "questionnaire")

I didn't see the thread either, but I would like to participate in the survey.

I suppose doing something to try and get NCEES mind right is a good thing.

the NCEES exams are the same as our Calif. exam in that the exam content is controled by the practices of the profession. This survey and your responses will set the content for the next several years. For Calif. to be an influence, will require a large response to the survey. I will post the link when it is aviable.

So where is it, Russ? BPELSG has theirs available online(See thread titled "Be A Voice Again - State Occupational Analysis").

I was a little surpised that NCEES was opening input up to non-academics. Are they still going to provide the "survey", are they trying to hype up anticipation, or are they having second thoughts and keeping it only among academia? Inquiring minds want to know. ;-)

Evan I think the release date is t8/29 when I get back from Idaho I will make sure it gets posted, but for the next week I am off smelling the roses (pine trees, rivers etc)

I just went off on the wrong survey for this thread. If you read it it doesn't apply to the LSIT/NCEES survey.

RAM is giving everyone notice about the upcoming NCEES occupational analysis for the Fundamentals of Surveying exam (LSIT) which given that NCEES is at their annual conference in Rhode Island right now probably will not be posted until next week as RAM as stated. (pending the hurricane)

Evan is referring to the State Professional Land Surveyor occupational analysis that was developed by BPELSG and Prometric for the state land surveyor exam. Evan provided a separate post on this. BPELSG and Prometric are currently working on language yesterday for the posting and Crissy is standing by ready to post.

If anyone has already completed the "questionaire" per Evan's post, that is fine.

RAM, I'm surprised you are not back in town fighting that Yosemite fire. Stay away until you can come back.

Let your voices be heard, Calif. can make a difference if enghough respond.
