Does anyone know if these are still being manufactured?

Is this the best precise differential leveling solution for use in high vibration environments?

"Split bubble level", "concurrent coincidence level" or "tilting level" - not an automatic compensator level. Examples include the Wild N-2 or NK-2, Topcon TS-E1 & TS-3 series, Sokkia PL-1, and Kern GK23.

Use is for leveling on bridge widening construction envoronments where vibrations from vehicle traffic (Jim) cause compensating level crosshairs to bounce a lot.

My underestanding is that they are not manufactured any more. We had one at the CLSA scholarship auction, I don't remember the manufacturer. You should have purchased it! I have a Gurley tilting level manufactured in the thirties if you would like to borrow one.

The split bubble is a means of more precisely levelling the instrument. I'm not aware that the levelling mechanism (foot screw adjustments) or of any internal dampening mechanism that provides additional isolation from vibration.

Tim's solution of using a Dumpy style level may be your most practical option to minimize the effect of work surface vibration on your sight picture. A good one in good adjustment is just as accurate and precise as a good survey grade compensating 3-post level.
