Can you put down the new expiration date of your license on docs. if your payment has been sent in and hasn't been processed yet? Or do you continue to put down the current expiration date even after that date? I tried to find language in the PLS Act that discusses this and haven't found anything. Thanks.

you don't need to put down your expiration date on your docs. Unless you've expired, ha ha ha

Check the Board's License Lookup site. Once they have processed your renewall and updated the web site, you can use that date.

Yes you do...still required for Record of Survey and Corner Records.

CORRECTION: What I posted was incorrect (Nancy is now walking around the office and intentionally not making eye contact with me LOL - that's what I get for not looking at the book myself). Expiration date is not required for Record of Survey or Corner Record.

It was my (and others) understanding from the 2010 Board Rules update that the Expiration Date was not required to be included on any documents or maps.

Interesting that Government Code Section 66450 (a) still requires that the County/City Surveyor (or the appropriate official) still needs to indicate their expiration date on the map.

Now why is that?

If my license renewal expired on Dec 25, 2012, and I have already paid my fees for the upcoming 2 years, and I haven't received anything back from the state stating that I am up to date, I would list my expiration date as Dec 25, 2014.

I can't sign the map today with an expiration date of 3 days ago.

look on the PELSG web site, query your own name and it should be listed

Something interesting to consider for those that think that by submitting your renewal payment, the date automatically is forwarded two years and the licensee does not have to wait until confirmation is received before signing and sealing documents.

If an administrative fine is due to the Board as a result of either an administrative citation or disciplinary action, the Board has a hold placed on the license until that fine is taken care of by the licensee.

If that fine has not been taken care prior to the Board receiving the renewal fee the funds submitted for the renewal will be applied to the fine, which means that the license will not renew and that licensee is not allowed to practice until the remainder of the fine is accounted for AND the renewal fee paid along with any subsequent delinquency fees should those accrue.

After reading this, it may seem obvious that one would not try and renew their license before taking care of a fine, especially if one knew that a fine was hanging over their head, but sometimes "obvious" is perceived differently by people.

I suggest, as some have mentioned, that you should confirm your renewal through license lookup or by receipt of your new pocket ID card.
