I just called to get more information. I was told that no one would be able to get back to me until after the 14th. They had no information.

Conference Info

Post by bimmel »

We have unfortunately had issues with the website this year, and we apologize the lack of information it has provided so far. The website is still undergoing work, and will hopefully feature more information in the near future.

I am attaching the registration form, the mailer we sent out, and creating a link to the ASPRS website showing the technical session being held the night before.

ASPRS: www.asprs.org/a/norcal/events.html

The program is still under work and will be released as soon as possible. I will try and post it here when it comes out. I can give a list of speakers attending so far:

Speakers include (not the final list):
Anette Lockhart

Jim alford
Gary Kent
Larry Otter
Jay Seymour
Juan Witrago

+++
The topics will encompass everything from Boundary, Terrestrial Surveying, GIS, Photogrammtery and Remote Sensing:
Some of the confirmed topics include:
The Anatomy of a Boundary Dispute

UAV Remote Sensing Platforms for Emergency Response and Management
Aerial Lidar and/or Photogrammetry – How to Decide the Best Approach for Your Project
+++

Raffle Prizes include
A Schonstedt magnetic loacater
New automatic level and level rod
+++

I hope that our delay in providing the pertinent information has not caused anyone to not attend.

Looks like a good lineup of speakers. Unfortunately, it's not looking like I will be able to attend this year.

For those who missed it at the CLSA conference last Spring. Gary Kent emceed (I guess that would be the right term) a mock trial of a boundary dispute. If that's what "The Anatomy of a Boundary Dispute" is going to be, although many parts are necessarily cut short, I think it gives those who have not been in court a flavor of what they might expect. At the CLSA conference, Gary (or someone with CLSA or NALS) had found an actual judge and a couple of attorneys to act as the judge and attorneys in the mock case. The audience acted as jury.

As I recall, Gary had based the mock trial case on an actual case that had a good set of facts that demonstrated some boundary principles that prevailed that surveyors often do not consider - but obviously should. Nearly half of the "jury" would have decided the case contrary to the correct outcome. It was a good boundary evidence analysis exercise.

Evan, you missed out. The speakers performed and good infromation was exchanged. A good gathering of our peers including a few that had not seen each other for over 25 years. It was another good opertunity to expand and continue our education.
