Crash

My hard drive crashed Thursday. Files are backed up and jobs fine but the hard drive that crashed was the programs only hard drive. I lost starnet (latest version from Micro Survey) but re-installed it fine. However, I am now missing my geoid file for the Santa Barbara area. I need to get a job out Monday. I went to the NGS website to download the Grid 5 geiods and ........ its shutdown!

Basically I got caught in a perfect storm. I can't wait to re-install quickbooks!

Does anyone have a geiod file for the Santa Barbara area? I can give you my ftp site information.

Thanks,

I have the g2012au5.bin available, but I don't recall if it goes far enough south. It's about 5MB, so I can either upload it to your ftp site or attach it to an email message if you want to try it. If interested, best to send me email (jhframe [at] dcn.org).

Sidenote: Hard-drives are spinning mechanical devices, and on occasion you can get them working by opening the computer case and with it running, tap the drive with something (from a pencil to a hammer) .. they get jammed on occasions and much like the starter in a car, a good wack can get them going again. at least long enough to get your info off and safe on a USB thumbdrive.

It's a solid state drive and the error was caused by a corupted operating system file.
