Prospective clients that talk fast, like the phone call is costing them $1,000 per minute and/or slurred or garbled phone numbers. One garbled number is OK, but more than that usually has me just forgetting about the call all together.
In my answering machine message I ask that the phone number be repeated twice, people do that, but they seem to make the same mistake with the second try as the first.

Related to this are foreign people with a strong accent, who will call and mention their name (which I never have heard before since they were born in a province in Botswana) quickly and one time only, and I have zero idea how to write the name down and I am guessing at some of the numbers.

Common occurrences with me. Thank goodness, I can go check the phone numbers on my phone to verify the numbers I tried to write down and sometimes the names if the phone is registered with the person who called. I understand the frustrations Paul.

I thought it was only me that needed telephone numbers repeated twice. :) I always say it twice when giving it out. Must be the surveyor in me. Jp
