Trimble R8 & GLONASS Satellites

Has anyone had an issue with not being able to track GLONASS satellites on L2C out near Cabazon? Upon driving back to our office, the receiver starting tracking GLONASS sats again near the I-10 & 60 split, so it doesn't seem to be a problem with our equipment. Could something be jamming signals? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

There it is,

I have had this issue in San Jacinto/Nuevo area, not Cabazon. I had contacted Mike Westphal at Allen regarding this issue. Here is the response he gave on a linkedin user's group and provided to me:

"I would suspect you are running the R8 Model 3’s or 4’s. And that your issue is probably site specific. These models have proven to be more susceptible to outside interference than the Model 2’s. We had an issue in a particular area of Phoenix where the Model 3 L2 signal was reading 0, but unlike your case, this was happening to all of the Glonass sats and only a few of the GPS. The Model 2 had no issues in the same location. We had Trimble investigate and found an amateur television station’s broadcast frequency was the cause of the problem. Trimble was able to persuade them to change the frequency and the interference issue disappeared."

At my office (Lake Skinner) everything works fine. I haven't figured out what is affecting the receivers, just kind of deal with it.

I haven't been there recently but about 15years ago we tried GPS in Avalon and all the ham radios there made the bluetooth useless.

It looks like the response you received from Allen closely resembles the equipment (R8 Model 3) and issues we had. We went out the next day with our 5800 and had no issues. Thanks for helping confirm that it is not just our receiver, that others also deal with this issue.

You would think as technology progresses that there would be less of an issue with interference, but in this case I guess not.
