Daughter returned home.

A couple of weeks later her 8 month old male Dachsund puppy showed up. He is black and tan.

We aren't dog people but I have to say he has grown on me a lot. He has lots of personality.

Our indoor cats have disciplined him on what is/isn't acceptable. Sometimes the big male Japanese Bobtail follows him yowling which really freaks him out. Funny stuff. He doesn't get too close to the female tabby ever since we heard a storm of yelping coming from the bedroom (we didn't see what she did to him). I did see her half lunge and bite the air (didn't get within 2') and he yelped, pretty funny.

He wants to take on every dog at least 4 times his size. Cats, though, he doesn't know what those things are.

sounds like a keeper, Personally I have found that the more commotion at home, the happier home is.. post pics sometime.

LOL Cats are amazing, my favorite pet. If our female siamese didn't like the food we put out for her she would go find the younger cat, who eats anything, and bring her in to eat the food. Then when it was gone she would then sit by the food area and cry and she would get different food.
In her 19-1/2 years she trained us well. She's gone now, kidney failure.

I am working on a ballot meausure to force grown men to have regular-sized dogs. What the hell is going on with you dudes owning weiner dogs, chihuahuas, tiny little terriers and the like? It is so weird to see a guy twice my size walking one of those. STOP IT PEOPLE.

Thank you Mr. Taylor. Yorkie, Westie, Skipperpoo, what the heck are those things? If you can picture Paris Hilton carrying one in a basket, it's the wrong breed for a self-respecting man, or woman for that matter. I'm on my 3rd black lab and see little need for any variation from the pattern.

What ever you may say, a Dachshund is not bred to be afraid of anything. Recently one took on a bear to save its owner.

Anything bred to go down a badger hole after a badger is tough.

I happen to like bigger dogs, but I don't disrespect the Dachshund.

As Mrs. "JKnox" I love our Labs but I agree that Doxies are respectable small dogs too. I don't think his comment was really aimed at them. :-)

I am the first to admit, no way am I man enough to tell my wife "No" when she ask me to walk her little dog, even my 72 lb boxer takes a step back when the wife says something to the purse dog....

Attached you will see a golden retriever laying down next to the instrument across Capitola Avenue in Capitola Village. No leash. She's the team peacemaker.

Scout, you had to lay right there? Don't fall off the cliff. He comes with me most days. One man crew, he keeps me company. Here's a picture from earlier this month... Little dogs, not for me.

Here's another one of Scout at an NGS point about an hour before Google Earth captured us on the trail back to the truck. A quick back yard hike before driving over Tioga Pass to the Bay Area for work that week. Not quite at work yet, per diem starts in about 2 hours. And you know crazy surveyors’ recreation time sometimes involves Monument recovery. This one's easy there's a data sheet. Scout is working on sniffing out 1879 GLO post & rock mounds. My girlfriend has a dachshund and I love that dog! It's the funniest and smartest dog I've seen. She also barks and picks a fight with dogs 4 times her size. Everytime she sees a dog on TV, she starts to bark and jumps at the TV and runs behind the TV to see where the dog is. Cracks me up.

My dad was a doxie fan. They all had German names. Hans, Fritz etc. Those little dogs do have the heart of a lion. I remember watching as Fritzy was being bullied by a German Shephard. This was in the days when people let their dogs run loose. The big dog straddled Fritz for a second, waiting to see what he was going to do. Before I could do anything to break it up Fritz stood up on his little hind legs and nipped the Shephard's scrotum. Needless to say he never had any trouble with that dog again.
