I've been asked to prepare "surveyors maps" for a 'HUD 108 loan.'
Does anyone kow what is required to show on such a map. I looked up the requirements for HUD loans and saw that they wanted ALTA standard but was told not for a "108" loan. I can't seem to find out what I need to show - I'm thinking it's a basic drawing showing the record boundaries outlining the area so someone can look at it and see basically what they're dealing with. I don't think they are interested in bearings, distances, monuments etc, but I could be completley wrong. Anyone have experience with this?

It is possible it is what is done back east and they call those "Mortgage Surveys." We used to do 3 or 4 a day and they were legal there. I don't think they are in California. You prepare a simple plat showing the house on the lot, the driveway, address and entrance and the fences, if any, and in essence you certify there is a house on the lot. Pretty silly given Google.

Like Michael, I only encountered these types of "mortgage surveys" outside of California. I cannot speak for whether they are legal in this state or not but by HUD instructions, it appears that it is a permissive use by HUD. Regardless, performing a survey for this purpose or any other would need to adhere to the PLS Act.

Interesting enough, it appears that HUD has adopted ALTA/ACSM 2011 standards into this requirement. Check out the following attachments for much more information:

Gentlemen, thanks for the help. It confirms my first thoughts and findings about these having to be at ALTA standards. I will pass the information on to the people requesting the surveys and inform them in regard to ALTA requirements (then there's the RS issue to contend with too).
