I submitted mylars for Parcel Map. The City agency rejected them and refused to record because of incorrect map size. They said length was short by
1/16". It was 18" X 25.95" instead of 18 x 26. Is this reasonable?

I would say no. Ask them when their tape was last calibrated, and contact the County Clerk for clarification.

I agree about contacting the Recorder's office. If they'll record it, then I don't see why there's a problem.

That's absurd. As others say, contact the Recorder.

Needs to be 26" exactly. Period. I suggest the following:

Get out your total station, pin the mylar to the wall if you have reflectorless or on the ground if you need to use a rod (preferably a peanut prism), shoot the corners of the mylar making sure to double your angles (long to short for sure). You may want to shoot it from multiple set ups so you can perform a least squares adjustment....of course. Bring it into ACAD and draft it up with dimensions. Print it out, write a certification about how it is exactly 18X26 based on a field survey conducted by TIB on June 12, 2015, stamp it and sign it. Maybe that will help get it through. I would be happy to serve as an expert witness for a small fee if you think that will help.

I don't think I trim mine to that level of precision.

I have corner marks in AutoCAD which I use on the trimmer. I've never checked it for exactness.

Mr. rpost, I don't believe that I can do any better than .005 ( 1/16") with my old gun and a prism. I know nothing about least squares. Mebbe you should sign and stamp it instead since you are the "expert". Mebbe some industrial size calipers. They meas to 1/1000 inch. HA HA
BTW, the BofB on your ROS is OK as is. No reason to change it
