Congratulations, but what exactly did Lee do to win. Was it pretty, or complicated, or ?

I looked at his work product in the link, but could not find anything as to what the judging criteria is based on for the various awards.

Whatever the criteria is, that is an impressive map in my opinion. Thanks for sharing and congratulations!
A sketch like that oughta be good for a steak dinner, at least.

It certainly had a good look to it and it seemed to have a whole bunch of stuff that he had to do. Also used a lot a fancy words that surveyors use.
Probably the biggest factor was that he submitted the map for "judging". looks like blue ribbon work to me. (or is that flagging)

Definitely a lot of work went into it. Hope he made more then min wage on the job.
I didn't realize before that clicking on his name brought up the map.

I was curious about the criteria myself and received an answer yesterday. They scored from 1-4 points on each of the following:
1. Interpretability: Is the user quickly able to determine the purpose of the document ?
2. Content and Layout of Data: Is industry accepted standard content (North Arrow, Scale, Bench Mark, Datum,
Orientation, etc.) easily located and clearly depicted ?
3. Presentation: Is the document laid out in an orderly manner, making the best use of paper space
and a visually appealing balance of line weights and letter size ?
4. Innovation: Have symbolism, line styles, shading, and/or fonts been used to better depict
important objects or details ?
5. Applicability: Does the document meet the need of the typical client ?
6. Correctness: Are there any notable errors or blunders on the document ?
7. Neatness: Stray lines, lines through text or calls, uneven spacing of text or calls, etc.
8. Accuracy of Scale: Beyond the obvious, the relative sizing of different elements of the document.
