Survey Technician - Wood Rodgers, Sacramento

Wood Rodgers, Inc., has an immediate LSIT career opportunity in the Survey & Mapping department at our Sacramento headquarters. We are looking for career-oriented candidates having 5 or more years of related land surveying experience, including some field survey experience, though the work is performed inside the office.

General Summary of Position: Under direction, the Survey Technician will perform various tasks associated with land surveying and mapping, such as ALTA Surveys, Records of Survey, Parcel Maps, Final Maps, plats and exhibits, legal descriptions and easement documents for a wide range of public and private projects and clients.

Essential Job Duties
• Prepare detailed drawings from sketches, plans, specifications, and written and verbal instructions using civil, survey and computer aided drafting programs (i.e., AutoCAD Civil 3D).
• Interpret field notes and sketches.
• Perform various computations including closure, precision, and calculations for surveys, plats, easements, etc.
• Use AutoCAD software to assist in production of detailed topographic surveys, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, Record of Surveys, Parcel Maps, Final Maps, and other various survey related documents.
• Prepare legal descriptions and exhibits for parcel and easement acquisition.
• Compile land title information from title reports and records research.
• Preferred, but not required: processes conventional and GPS data using Trimble Business Center or similar software
• Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Certification:
• High School diploma, or equivalent is required
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in surveying is preferred
• Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) is required
• Minimum of five years of relevant work experience
• Survey field experience is preferred

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Must have knowledge of boundary and legal principals
• Must be proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D
• ESRI Geographic Information System (GIS) experience is preferred
• Project experience with land development is preferred
