Please respond only if you are a member of CLSA.
Thank you.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. (My votes couldn't be accepted without a message?)

I fervently disapprove locking the entire forum to members only. Most discussions are about surveying, not the association. Why exclude out of state or non-member surveyors?
Also, many members have been using their PLS number as their forum user name. What is wrong with that? "Real Names Only" it is a freakish internet perversion encouraged and perpetrated by Facebook.
Lastly, while I'm ranting, it is about time the forum was allowed to be searched again by Google. The "robots.txt" file prohibiting indexing by search engines was a gut reaction to the dirty laundry posted last year. The soap opera is over, so kindly remove the restriction so I can find older posts using google instead of having to rely on the vastly inferior forum search feature.

Maybe I missed something. Is someone proposing to make the forum only viewable to members? Or is this a red herring?

No red herring. Merely an inquiry, nothing more. Would welcome any thoughts.

seems like 39 votes indicates either there are very few members whom use this site or it is not that important to too. just an observation.

I'm aligned with Anthony's post on this issue (at least his first two paragraphs, I have no opinion on the third.) I found this forum highly educational prior to becoming a member and it was a factor in my decision to join. After a few years I find it occasionally sad or even pathetic at times but still enlightening on most days. If I had no idea what the discussion was about, I can't imagine why I would choose to participate in it. I would say that the only reason to lock people out would be to possibly save ourselves from embarrassment.
Or we could just consider what we are saying as
professionals and how it would present to a potential client prior to posting, for a hairbrained idea. I reckon that John Q. Public would have to be awfully bored to try to synthesize a Stan Myron thread...

I think another question could be:
How many people use this forum that are NOT a CLSA Member?
And why not?

Peter, this should be open. It appears to be taking votes.

The nonmembers will not be represented! I thought we lived in a democracy :) Jp
