Senior Land Surveyor - San Luis Obispo

Duties: Expected primary responsibilities will be office duties related to land surveying including but not limited to drafting of survey maps including topographic surveys, boundary surveys, parcel and tract maps, ALTA maps and various exhibits, as well as providing oversight to junior staff for drafting of survey maps. May be required to perform field surveys as either crew chief or as crew member acting in a mentorship role for junior staff. Have extensive experience with Records of Survey, Legal Descriptions and Boundary Re-establishments.
Key Expectations: Professionalism with a responsible work ethic, clear written and verbal communication skills, learning and adhering to company Quality Control procedures. Candidate must demonstrate thorough understanding of surveying techniques and have a strong background with the Subdivision Map Act. Candidate is expected to be able to effectively and efficiently use AutoCAD and Civil3D to produce survey maps from survey data with minimal oversight. Candidate must demonstrate strong project management skills including scope, budget and scheduling control, strong project delivery experience including managing the in-house team and coordinating with project consultants, meet quality deliverable expectations, and experience with preparation of proposals / RFP’s / SOQ’s including scope and budget, exhibits for interviews and participation in interviews, and meeting with current and potential clients.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying or related field, California professional registration, minimum of seven years of progressive experience, and demonstrate proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Preferred but not required to have experience using Spectra Survey Pro Field Collector software, and Trimble Business Center software and related utilities. Valid CA driver’s license required.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit at a desk and use computer with related tools for an average 8 hour work shift. Vision to independently view computer screen or printed materials and graphics. Field work will be required on an intermittent basis, requiring the need to possess mobility to work in an outside setting including construction sites and in traffic for an average 8 hour shift. Must be prepared to bend, crouch, lift and twist to carry out job duties. Lift and carry instruments weighing up to 75 pounds over rough terrain. Perform tasks such as clearing vegetation (including poison oak), digging holes, and/or pounding stakes with hand tools. May be required to travel overnight. Ability to operate motor vehicle. Hearing and speech skills to effectively communicate in English in person and over the telephone or two-way radio.
