to sign up for a full-day Dennis Mouland workshop on November 4, 2016 in Riverside, CA.
The proceeds go to a great cause, our local chapter Trig*Star program. CLSA has trimmed the budget for Trig*Star this year and we have a great program that has been running for 7 years. We get 150-200 students a year to come to a single location and take the exam. We grade the test and give cash awards to winners from each school and for overall winners of the group. We also have local agencies with surveyors (MWD & San Bernardino County) local surveying vendors (Colton Surveying Supply) and local surveying students from Mt. San Jacinto College come out and demonstrate equipment and allow the students to compete in surveying contests like a pacing contest, determining the height of a flag pole. Esri donates at least $1000 or $2000 in books to us each year to give away as prizes for these contests.
Our largest expense is to pay for food for the students, teacher and parents that come. We begin at 8 AM and offer coffee, water and pastries for breakfast and then we pay for the college's catering to cook hamburgers with chip, sodas and water, and cookies for lunch while the students wait for the exams to be graded.
For every person that signs up we get about $100 towards our Trig*Star event in Spring 2017. Please help a worthy cause - the exposure of high school students to Land Surveying as a career option. Without our workshop, we would not be able to offer a Trig*Star event for 2017.
