Help finding an Iphone quadrangle application

Could someone recommend an application for an Iphone that utilizes an underlying quadrangle map, but would let you set a waypoint, navigate to a waypoint, and also show private/public land? I would like to find one to use for surveying and hunting. Suggestions for one that has additional features you have found useful would also be appreciated. Thank you, Reily Smith

Look into Avenza maps, Gaia GPS, Trimble Navigator pro (if you have a bunch of extra money to burn), or Theodolite. Avenza is the simplest (and least expensive) I've found, all four will probably do what you are trying to do. I'm not understanding the "public/private land" part of your request so I can't comment on that aspect. Avenza is excellent for navigating to remote section corners and quarter corners.

Thank you David. Some of the GPS units I've seen advertised at sporting goods stores claim to show the public lands; i.e., BLM, Forest Service, state lands, etc. and those that have been patented and are owned by others. I don't need another $500 handheld GPS unit just for that purpose. I do need a better field navigation program for work and the programs you are suggesting sound good for that. Currently, I've been using Terrain Navigator Pro and downloading the waypoints by transferring them to my handheld GPS; however, several times in the field I've wanted to navigate to another corner, but don't have the coordinates. I might need to look at two apps with the second one just for open lands that I can hunt on. Reily

"topo maps" uses USGS quad maps with preloading for out of cell service areas

Thank you Wingding. I ended up getting Endecott's Topo Maps. $7.99 and you can download any quad map in the U.S. at no additional charge on the iphone and others. It has the usual GPS features.

For private/public land, I'll have to settle for the on line viewer from the BLM. You can download a map showing all Federal public land in ArcGIS at:
https://blm-egis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/w ... 20eddd7550. I can figure out where the Federal lands are and print the map of the area of concern, then find it in Topo Maps. I just found out you can get a personal copy of ArcGIS for $100/yr. Reily

We use iTopoMaps and Commander Compass on the iPad and iPhone. Both allow waypoints and are quite handy. iTopoMaps allows downloading of maps for offline use. Very handy when there's no cell coverage.
