Thank you Rich Maher. A great edition this month. What's the deal with the Surveying Museum? Glad to see the Practice Based Chapter headquartered in Orange County reporting on wide ranging topics. I reviewed the galley copy of the March newsletter - interesting article on "stakeless" projects in which the inspectors have replaced the surveyors in Oregon. Apparently, the Oregon DOT is training their inspection team to check line and grade without stakes (without surveyors). Last month I read in the OC newsletter that inspection is the number one "profession" with a projected 0.5% unemployment rate.

I've been curious as to what "practice based" means. Are not all the things CLSA has always strived for also important components of and to the practice of land surveying?
Does the OC Chapter have a more narrowly focused agenda than CLSA has as a whole?
I recall some years back when some in CLSA pushed for a more narrow focus on an issue that pitted private against public practice. I felt and still feel that choosing sides on that issue was a mistake by the then directors of CLSA. I hope the "practice based" branding isn't another attempt to narrow focus away from CLSA's founding principles.
