If you own 2 adjoining lots, bought separately, and zoning increases min lot size you only own one lot.

So much for property rights! The administrative state is winning, and the Planners know best what is good for our civilization, even though they have a hell of a time defining what is best. My 2 cents, Jp

yeah thank god for the administrative state. Without the administrative state licensed land surveyors would not have a job becasue anyone with a smart phone could survey. The Wisconsin supreme is not the California supreme court and therefore California land law is untouched by their decision.

Yes dmi, and trains don't have cabooses any more, what is your point. I'm not directing my son into the profession. I take it that you are fine with a planner deciding the title abstract of a unit of land and a judge going along with it? To hell with the life savings that the parents passed on to the siblings through property, let the administrative state make the property rights decisions for the family. San Francisco sounds like a perfect place for your mind set. Jp

I am sorry that I missed that it was the US Supreme court. Reading the story there were several groups that supported the court's decision and those groups were local groups and have nothing to do with San Francisco. You are wrong if you think the planner was engaged in land surveying. Far from it, and yeah I am fine with planning professionals telling the public what the planning code is and enforcing the planning code. that is how it works in America. In Wisconsin they are free to change their planning code if they decide to do so. But until they do so these people are sol in terms of developing their SUBSTANDARD LOT......Yes I am all for the administrative State dictating how property may be developed. This administrative State is legitimate as it is part of the democratic republic. THE PEOPLE VOTED FOR THIS GOVERNMENT in Wisconsin. There a plenty of land owners around Lake Tahoe that have tried the same BS and they were stopped and it was for their good and the good of the rest of us. I have visited Tahoe on at least one 4th of July and it was a miserable experience. If they just let everyone do anything they want(build on any postage stamp of ownership anything) the air quality up there with all the traffic would be as bad as LA. Maybe you should move to Texas. They have no planning and zoning whatsoever. You are free to build chemical plants right next to schools, and nursing home. What we need are more deadly explosion just like they had in the town of West Texas.Nah the people of Wisconsin are free to determine their own planning laws and it is frankly none of your or my business and if you live in that state and you do not like the laws change the laws.....

This is the problem with America. 36% of the country thinks that ONLY THEIR opinion matters. They become frustrated and angry with opinions that differ from their own. Sorry pal you do not get everything your way. You have to deal with the rest of America. Trump is learning this. He cannot come into office and do anything he wants. We have a constitutionally limited government. I pointed out factually correct points and then you resort to name calling. We cannot have a functioning society if we are unwilling to accept the basic rules of the road, I want to do what I want to do whenever I want to do it just cuz I want to is not an organizing principle that will sustain our democratic republic. Like I said if the rules are really that onerous then we have the mechanism to change those rules. Sorry my opinion is not a cancer . In fact it is a conservative opinion that is firmly rooted in respect for the law. Like it or not the court ruled the way it ruled and I stand by their decision. There is nothing that is in any way illegitimate or a usurpation of property rights....THEY HAD THEIR DAY IN COURT AND THEY LOST. The option now is for the citizens to change the law in Wisconsin, if they so desire. If you better system of government then please share what it is otherwise shut up if all you are going to do is name call.
