Surveyor I-II, County of Ventura Public Works Agency

Under general direction, performs field surveys; checks subdivision maps, records of survey, parcel map waivers and other survey documents; and/or performs geodetic survey calculations; and performs related duties as required.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in land surveying, either field work, office work or both. This candidate is familiar with various types of surveying equipment, and familiar with computer programs (MS Office Suite, AutoCAD CIVIL 3D, GIS software, or processing/adjustment software such as Leica, Geo Office, StarNet, etc.); is self-motivated, adaptable, organized, and efficient; communicates well both orally and in writing; works well in a team setting and is willing to learn.

EDUCATION, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE
Some experience in land surveying, which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge, skills and abilities, which can be met by completion of a Bachelor's degree in land surveying, civil engineering, or certification as a California Land Surveyor-in-Training, for the Surveyor I level.

In addition to the above stated requirements, the Surveyor II level also requires at least one year of qualifying professional engineering or land surveying experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
 Must possess and maintain a current, valid California driver license.
 Ability to work in both an office environment and out of doors, and must have the ability to perform strenuous tasks during field surveys.
 Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
