Several years ago when I owned a much larger company, I was involved in a government project wherein I saw a lot of improper things going on. In an effort to bring these concerns to light, I was threatened, harassed, and intimidated. I worked closely with the FBI and eventually this matter was prosecuted and I served as the government's chief witness. This was a very difficult time as the nature of the threats was rather unbelievable. It got so heavy, the FBI followed me around for awhile, given the nature of the threats. In spite of the intensity of this situation, I did the right thing at great personal and financial loss.

I have attached the federal lawsuit for those interested. Over the years I have been asked to lecture on this case as part of a broader discussion on ethics, morality, and the profession of land surveying.

If you were offered a $30,000 bribe, what would you do?

Early in my career, I attended an ethics training class where a particular statement made a lasting impression and has stayed with me over my 37 year career with Los Angeles County Public Works. The instructor's quote was "Know the difference between right and wrong, and do the right thing".

That 37 year career ends on the 27th of this month as I retire and transition my public service career into the private sector.

Not to get this thread going sideways, but congratulations Dennis on your escape/retirement! You have been a great resource over the years on subdivision stuff and I thank you for that.
