Recently my ROS redmark comments have requested a Title report. This is new to me.
I've always relied on deeds for my maps.
In this case I don't have a title report, could I get one from the client ? perhaps....
I just don't want to go down a rabbit hole to get my map recorded.
I'm just not interested in exploring the title report in the map review process.
thoughts?

Tell them no. If they insist, tell them to put a note on the map.

Is a licensed person asking?

Agree with Mr. Pallamary. This is not within their purview to require/request. Suggest to request a reference to supporting PLS act citation... do not believe there is one.

In short, this is not a ‘thing’, in the parlance of our times.

My thoughts; someone is confused. You are correct that the deeds are the relevant documents. They may just need a reality check. I never asked for a title report (unless there was some underlying issue where it may be helpful- and then it was just a suggestion) for the 1500 or so RS's I checked in the County Surveyor role.

I would typically ask for a recent preliminary title report when beginning a survey, and thought that was standard operating procedures. Is this not true of others? Passing it on to the CS is another discussion and if the doc. is helpful to the CS's review I would probably pass it on to him. Thanks, Jon

The penultimate question is:

Do you need a title report to perform a boundary survey?

Like many have said tell them no.

Another trend I have seen is requests for a vesting deed on LLA's, albeit I completely concur they should be recorded and supplied if they have been (public and private sector surveying really needs to return to a partnership, in my opinion), the Surveyor preparing the LLA should be responsible enough to educate the client as to why a perfecting deed should and must be recorded (hint for a possible topic on Fridays webinar ), but there are occasions these deeds don't get recorded, I'm engaged to survey these boundary lines and am obligated to file an RS, perfecting deed or not! LS Act states no division of land (I'm paraphrasing here) shall be reflected without a Certificate of Compliance attached, I'd like to think we all know what an LLA is.

Let me guess this is a County that use to employ Ed Boris?
