My question to you is does YOUR company (surveyorplacement.com) have a California licensed land surveyor on staff? I suggest you take a look at Section 8726, specifically subsections (i) and (j) of the California Business and Professions code before you offer to procure work for others.

My post was mainly for your awareness. I happened to look and although surveyor_placement has been a member of this forum for about 6 months, there have only been 5 posts for this user, all of which have zero feedback/responses publicly.

This sounds like more of a topic for the classified section and not so much for the general discussion board. It isn't a violation to have multiple jobs, by all means, I did that for years (granted one was a surveying job and the other two were in radio and television production). The revision to your post still does not make it clear that you are simply asking what type of work is in demand in the state right now to me. I appreciate what surveyor_placement is doing and think it is a great idea to have a one stop shop for surveyors who are looking for work can turn to when they are in need of employment.

I think maybe you need to be more concise about the fact that you are asking these questions for the purpose of helping to find qualified individuals for placement with firms in California and not specifically looking for work for those candidates. The last sentence of your post is what really rubs me the wrong way and is breaking the law if in fact you or your company do not have a licensed land surveyor in the state listed on the organizational record for said company. The fact that you are willing to pay a referral fee to procure surveying work, albeit, possibly for someone who has hired surveyor_placement to find them a job is in violation of the law unless the previously mentioned sections of the LS Act are being followed.

I think you overstepped your grounds on this one and possibly need to wait for companies to come to you asking for help in finding qualified candidates, whether it be temporary, permanent, full time or part time employees, instead of looking for work to give people who are using your service.

I would also be a little wary of throwing around the terms "consultant" and "employee" in the same breath. Those two terms are not interchangeable in the eyes of the labor laws and other pertinent laws in California.
