A Christmas Wish 2021
Twas the night before Christmas and I'm asleep in my pad,
I haven't felt so comfy since I was a young lad;
The stockings are hung but the tree is not up;
I could not put one up this year because of a new pup;
I tried to erect one but he batted the balls and bit on the tree,
After running in circles he went to the base and let out a pee;
So we gave up on that and put things up out of his reach,
I will train him next year and continue to teach;
It has been over a year now that I hung up my guns,
Looking at posts on the CLSA Forum, it is apparent I am not the only one;
My mind is still sharp, but my body grows weak,
A good day for me is getting a full night sleep;
Memories of coworkers and fun jobs are still on my mind,
But I do not miss the day to day grind;
I loved what I did, played by the book and stood my own ground,
I continued a job until it was done right and was sound;
I have no regrets and did it my way,
With that I wish you all well and continue to say,
Always do what is right in your heart, never sacrifice and don't cuss,
From a retired surveyor to you and your family, have a Merry Christmas.
