could use some help with computations

I'm a surveying student and could use some help with computing angles, azimuths, and bearings.

For example: What is the south azimuth of a line with a bearing of S 10°59'01" E?

An azimuth of 156-12-18 has a corresponding back bearing of ?

It helps if you diagram it out.

Draw N-S-E-W axis on graph paper. Then plot a bearing of S 10-59-01 E.

A South azimuth measured right from South to S 10-59-01 E would be 360 minus 10-59-01.

An azimuth of 156-12-18 looking the opposite direction is an azimuth of 336-12-18. Convert that to a bearing (hint. it is in the NW quadrant)

Thank you! I was able to understand the way you explained it.

What is the south azimuth of a line with a bearing of S 10°59'01" E? 349°00'59"

An azimuth of 156-12-18 has a corresponding back bearing of ? N 23°47'42" W

I could also use some help with computing traverses. Here's a link to what I've done so far. I'm not sure that I'm doing the latitudes and departures correctly.

Go ahead and write out the formulas on how you are calculating each latitude and departure.

Latitude = length x cos (bearing) i.e. course B-C 484.18 x cos (42.00 decimal degree of N42°00E) = +359.82

Departure = length x sin (bearing) i.e. course B-C 484.18 x sin (42.00 decimal degree of N42°00E) = +323.98
