Anyone here ever heard of Blew & Associates, P.A.? They're a "premier provider of ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys" out of Fayetville, AR, and claim that they're not a coordinator but provide all services in-house without subcontractors.

I was contacted about doing an ALTA on several downtown commercial lots in my home city, and the prospective client sent me the Blew proposal as a model. The Blew fee is about 1/3 of what I would charge for the work.

I did a B&T and filed a ROS on the parcels in 2014. Since then one of the buildings has been replaced, and some of the street improvements have changed. Just for fun I figured what I would charge if I were to reuse as much of the 2014 information as possible, and didn't run into any of the slowdowns usually associated with working on busy downtown streets (i.e. no pedestrians blocking sight lines, all control monuments have survived the last 8 years, etc.). I can't even come close to matching the Blew number.

Color me skeptical. I guess you get what you pay for.

Surveyors in Arkansas are paid about $25 an hour, and used to tiny residential ALTA's if I remember right. (From discussions I had in a different forum)
The going rate I gather is about $400 per average tract home.

Few florida surveyors brag they can do three a day, at $300 each.

Buckley Blew. The chickens are coming home to roost on that license. He is trying to catch up on the records of survey that were overlooked on those bottom dollar ALTA surveys.

If you checked the BPELSG site I am certain there has to be a complaint or two on the license.

Sure enough, one from 2022 -- 13 pages worth, 17 causes of discipline. Not sure if it's been resolved.

Had the pleasure of working for them in 2020.
