Back in the late 70's I worked for the County Surveyor. We did Investigation & Perpetuation on complete Townships. We dug every section corner and quarter corner in that township. When we would find pin cushions we tied every corner out and removed then so we could search for more. It was great experience to do this. After the office decided where to place the corner we would return and set a new monument in the position. The survey field notes reflect the positions of these other corner as well as the Filed Map. Keep digging there might be more!
