Today I checked the site, it says " the recorded maps are no longer available online, map viewing available in the assessor's office".
I don't want to drive to assessor's office to view a map. Does anybody know any other source for recorded maps? thanks

I contacted the GISWEB technicians and I was told there was a state legislation which forced the County to remove the record maps from online access!

That was the interpretation of the new law by their county counsel.

The California legislature passed AB1785 which was sponsored by the Judge’s Association and amends Government Code 7928.205 to prohibit a public entity from posting of the name and parcel number associated with home address of any public official. County Council’s interpretation of the law required us to remove the links to the recorded maps.

I am very sorry for this inconvenience. It appears the public will be required to come to the Assessors office to view the maps at one of the public kiosks.

I was told the law passed after the attack to Pelosi's husband. But the attacker who had the name and address didn't need to have a survey map. You still can search the deed of property owners by their name and find the address, it has nothing to do with the link to the survey maps.
Isn't this a new way to collect revenue from purchasing the survey maps we need?

It looks like the last time I updated my Santa Cruz County map files was in July 2024.
If you have copies of the newer maps and want to share them, I will add them to the library.

This is a perfect example why CLSA needs to step up NOW!!!
We the surveyors, who pay our dues regularly need a backbone to stand on, and for the annual dues we pay . . .
I hope someone from the local Santa Cruz/Monterey Bay Chapter steps up and gets something done.
If not, I see this could become a bigger issue with other counties following. You know this will be a topic and discussion in future Recorder's Meetings, and before you know it, it will be state wide. What a great idea and go backwards to pre-internet days when you have to go to the County Office's before one can research and prepare an estimate.

Take note: Santa Cruz County is now a No Survey County in my book! Luckily I have only done a few over the past 35 years!
I feel for you SC Surveyors, and hope things change soon!
