FIELD LAND SURVEYOR - Contract Position to handle overflow

Pay Rate: Based on location and project scope
Description:
We are seeking an experienced Field Land Surveyor to join our team on a contract basis (1099). This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated professional looking to work on topographic and telecommunication surveys. You’ll play a key role in collecting accurate field data and supporting high-quality deliverables for clients across Central/Northern California. This position works under the direct supervision of our PLS.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct boundary, topographic, construction staking, and ALTA/NSPS surveys
• Operate GPS, total stations, data collectors, and related field equipment
• Perform field calculations and prepare clear, concise field notes
• Collaborate with office staff to ensure seamless data processing and project coordination
• Ensure all work is completed according to project scope, schedule, and safety standards
• Adhere to Ambit field standards – under direct supervision of our PLS
Requirements:
• Proficiency with surveying instruments (e.g., Trimble, Leica, or Topcon)
• Strong knowledge of land surveying principles and practices
• Ability to perform monument recovery in support of a record of survey
• Quick turnaround time (10 days from NTP)
• Have total station with direct reflect capabilities
• GPS capability (OPUS or network)
• Be able to provide equipment calibration information
• General Liability Insurance and Commercial Auto Insurance is required
• Minimal linework drafting required
