SURVEY DIVISION CHIEF – SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY
San Bernardino County Department of Public Works – County Surveyor’s Division
Salary: $129,438.40 – $182,873.60 annually
Location: Throughout San Bernardino County, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time

San Bernardino County Department of Public Works is seeking an experienced Survey Division Chief to lead and direct the County’s surveying operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned land surveying professional to provide leadership over a diverse surveying program and work on complex boundary, mapping, construction, and public works projects throughout San Bernardino County.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and direct County surveying operations.
Supervise, through subordinate supervisors, the preparation of surveying reports, cost estimates, specifications, and long-range work programs.
Review and approve complex Record of Survey maps.
Confer with County officials, governmental agencies, private engineers, and surveyors regarding complex boundary and surveying matters.
Serve as an expert witness and provide consultation to County Counsel on land boundary and surveying matters.
Develop and monitor the Division’s budget.
Review legislation and assess its impact on County surveying operations.
Provide leadership and direction to professional and technical surveying staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current and valid California license to practice Land Surveying OR California Registered Civil Engineer authorized to practice land surveying; AND
Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in land surveying; AND
One (1) year of full-scope supervisory experience over staff involved in land surveying.
