3 numbers left
I am totally upset and crushed I did not pass or at least I did not recieve my letter yet. I spent the last 6 months studying in the evening to late at night and Saturday all day. No time spent with my kids or family and to not have passed that test makes me ill. Several guys of my study group passed and I am happy for them. I t just does not make any sense.

Regarding the candidates that have not received their letters from the board for the Sate Specific Land Surveyors exam. I placed a call to the board minutes ago and was told the remaining letters have been sent, as stated from the person I talked with, "a couple of days ago". No reason was given for the delay.

billy in the slo and hi-note,
Assuming you’ve already passed the national exam, what difference does it make if you haven’t received a letter yet? It’s very simple! If your name is in the look-up database and you have a number, you passed the state exam; if you don’t have a number you didn’t pass the state exam!

The database, in and of itself, is not a conclusive answer to whether or not those of us who are still waiting have passed.
Who is to say the database update is complete? Maybe they will put in another number later today.
There is a discrepancy between the amount of new licensed surveyors and the number shown as passed in the 2012 PLS exam stats.
Perhaps that is because somebody forgot to send in the take home, maybe not. There are all sorts of things that could be going on and without a notice of some kind, of which still has not arrived in my mailbox, those of us who spent the first four months of the year devoting our entire focus to this exam, and the last week in anguish, have to wonder... and vent a little.

Maybe Ric can chime in here, but I believe the online database is conclusive. This discrepancy has existed every year since the national exam has been required. You have pools of people that are taking both tests in April, only taking one test because they have already passed the other, etc. It is almost impossible to figure out the exact reason for the discrepancy, but you can really only factor in a couple of reasons for it...
Forgot to send, or sent in late, the take-home test
91 passed the state exam, but only 88 new people have achieved passing both the state and national and take-home.
There may be some on the list of 88 new LS's that only took the national exam in April because they passed the state exam last April.
But the on-line list is the only way to know, unless you get a letter that says otherwise.

@40 CHAINS, I did pass the National and yes "it is very simple", obviously I did not pass the State. How would you like to read about being traded from the Lakers to the Wizards in the paper before management talked to you in person?
I'm just sayin', nice to know the cut score, my score, areas of weakness, areas of strength etc. It's the damn State of CA! How hard is it to mail out 384 letters at the same time?
How about the anxiety level when you felt you prepared well and tested well and then you read "76% FAIL" before you get your letter?
Rather cavalier attitude on your part sir.

I heard last night from several people that had received their letters last Saturday, Monday and through the week. For those of you that have not yet received a Pass or Fail letter, please email either me (ric.moore@dca.ca.gov) or Ray (raymond.mathe@dca.ca.gov).
Thanks
Thanks

State Specific exam
I also have not received my obvious fail letter, but if there isn't any additional information as to how I actually did, at this point I don't need a letter. I did pass the National test, "whatever good that does". I would like to give my take on the state specific though. My first comment when I finished was "if I didn't pass, I missed a golden opportunity". I actually thought the test was fairly easy, my problem was I did not prepare like I should have and thought I would have more time to look things up. The questions were standard survey questions you should probably know off the top of your head, had I had six hours to take the test I think I could have scored almost perfectly, as it was I was coming back to things I actually knew how to do but didn't have time to calculate and started guessing. For those who did prepare well, I would like to know your thoughts on the test.

Well, I went through the appeals process last year. I only finished less than 2/3 of the 2011 exam. I came within 7 points of passing.
This year I finished the entire exam with time to spare. I am a veteran of the State Specific. I have never felt as good about any exam, LSIT, national, state, than I did about this one.
Apparently, I did not pass.
I felt that the 2011 exam that I got to see post grading was fair.
I don't know how I feel about the new method now.
