Don't mistake a listing price for a selling price. I'd be very surprised if that 48 gets any bids with an opening bid that high, especially since TSC1s with Survey Controller 7.72 are going for around $300.

I sold an HP48GX with TDS and an environmental case on eBay a few years ago for $300 or so, and I'd expect it to go for a bit less today. My guess is that the current listing sells to a Best Offer of $300 or less, or doesn't sell at all.

Don't be so sure, Jim. Some folks love those HP calculators with the survey programs. Have you seen what a 41CX with a Survey chip goes for these days? Last I saw, they were fetching $600 to $800.

Some folks would rather pay far more than the actual worth of an old HP (as compared to newer, more powerful units) because it's what they know and are comfortable with.

I think the price of the 41-series is related mostly to sentimental value. (I don't want to sell mine, even though I haven't even looked at it in years.) Unless things have changed in the last 3 years, the value of the 48-series doesn't reflect much sentiment yet, probably because it lives on in the form of the HP50.

Used 48GXs (bare) are going for around $100; a brand new one recently sold for $179. Last week A 48GX with TDS and an environmental case went for $400, but in the same week a 48GX with SMI and environmental case only brought $240.

I've added the unit in question to my eBay watch list out of curiosity.

My "guys" call my HP41, the "Princess" it has scotch tape holding it together, but it still works, and works fast I might say.

The N batteries seem to last forever.
Question? Arent there any DC developers out there who have made easy to use machines ? Carlson ?

just wondering . . . .also, Ive been looking for a static GPS data logger.

maybe a lap top is the best ?
We have 3 TSC1's but have 4 units. just need another for static work.

A 41 and TDS is "comfortable" to old farts that hope to retire soon.

but I now have a spare.
