Control Surveys

Post by Gromatici »

Do any of you know of any control survey in ventura county? Let me know if the Santa Paula airport has any control surveys.
I'm not talking about NGS monuments, but private surveys for the airport or for municipalities that have good GPS ties to them.

Thanks,

FAA projects

Often any work tied to FAA funding is required to be tied into the NGS airport control surveys. Have you researched the NGS database?

Not familiar with the size of Santa Paula Airport, but it sounds like a small, county facility? Have you contacted the Airport Manager to inquire about any survey work they have had done to satisfy your control issues?

Eric,

Ventura (Frank Maxim) and Oxnard (Warren Smith) both have had control surveys performed in the past. You may want to contact them for details. I have worked with the PACS and SACS at Camarillo and Oxnard airports, but not specifically at Santa Paula. I have established (and re-established) control surveys around Mugu and Port Hueneme that are useful.

Not sure if Santa Paula is under the County Airports control or not, but if so, you may want to call Don at their Camarillo Airport office to see.

My guess is that if anyone has established control (maybe not precise GPS control) near there, it would be Benner & Carpenter. You can try calling them.

There isn't much documentation at the County Surveyor's office for these. I have the Ventura Survey and Warren's Survey in Oxnard already. I know there must be more out there, but the County doesn't have a list like SB County does.
