I notice a lot of requests on here for how to do this or that on a maps/plats etc.
In my training days a very talented surveyor told me that whenever I did research for a project to ask the local agency for a copy of, or recorded ref, their latest PM, Tr Map etc. and tell the agency person that you want it for example to make it easier for both of you. Some will stand there with the deer in headlights look, others will see the light and be more than happy to give you a copy of one they like the best.
Didn't work about 10 years ago in Inglewood, but that's another story.

LA County - New Draft Map Preparation Manual
Feel free to check out new draft chapters as they become available. We are accepting comments and input from the land surveying community to try and produce a new manual that will benefit all of us on both sides of the counter. We are trying to incorporate as many examples as possible along with up to date standardized certificates and notes. We would appreciate any input. There is a table of contents available so you can see what other chapters are forthcoming as they become available.
