Open Announcement in Plain Language
Based on some of the questions and inquiries that I have received, I thought it would be helpful to explain this position and the process in as plain a language as I can:
BPELSG will be posting an advertisement in the near future for my previous position, commonly referred to as the Staff Land Surveyor position, which is a permanent state employee position that evolved from the original Land Surveyor Consultant contract.
Due to state hiring procedures, we are required to post an Examination announcement first (the current posting) and then post a vacancy of the Land Surveyor Registrar position next. Individuals that responded to the Examination announcement will be eligilble to respond to the vacancy announcement.
Generally speaking, the position is responsible for:
- Technical review of land surveyor applications
- Researching and formulating responses to land surveying related inquiries
- Colaborating with Enforcement staff on land surveying related complaints
- Technical oversight of the state specific land surveying exam
- Technical advisor for the state specific Civil - Engineering Surveying exam
- Representing BPELSG on land surveying related outreach
Since all the licensees employed by BPELSG are also managing other specific assignments at the Board, the Land Surveyor Registrar will also be responsible for other duties as assigned. The current announcement assumes those extra duties will be managing exam administration and development, but ultimately will be decided based on final assessment.
If anyone is interested or know of anyone that may be interested and want to be considered for the position, please respond to this examination announcement by July 28, 2011 so you are eligible for consideration.
The Supplemental Questionaire (pages 6-12 of the announcement) is the required examination.
Thank you
