Yuba College - Adjunct Professor Position

I am the new head of the engineering program at Yuba College in Marysville, CA. In the Spring semester, we offer a Plane Surveying course that is primarily for our aspiring civil engineering majors. I would like to expose our students to instructors with more and varied field experience in surveying because I believe this increases student engagement and learning. Depending on a qualified candidate's availability, he/she could teach the entire class (both lecture and laboratory) or only the laboratory component. I was thinking the same thing Jim. There are several of us close enough with "varied field experience" that would most likely be very helpful to this program.

Maybe Roger has some leeway in this regard.

A couple of years ago I taught a boundary class for them. They wanted me to continue teaching it but the recession injected so much instability into my career that I thought it would be unfair to them to continue.

Thank you for catching the prior application deadline. I did not realize that HR had placed such a short window on the job posting. I asked them to extend the deadline for applications, and they have supplied a revised job announcement which I am attaching to this post with a new deadline of Nov 1st.

As for the requirements for a MS in Engineering (or the other options listed on the job announcement), I unfortunately do not have the liberty of changing these (nor would anyone else at the college). The minimum qualifications (called the MQs) to teach at a community college in CA are set by at the State level. Because this course is listed as part of the Engineering Program, the instructor of record must meet the MQs for teaching engineering. Some larger schools have separate Surveying programs, and the MQs for that discipline are different.
