DWR will likely fill a Transportation Surveyor (Caltrans) field position in the next two or three months. Pay ranges are identical to Caltrans and it's a great place to work if you prefer to work off of the asphalt most of the time and you don't mind working out of boats, atv's, and kayaks on occasion. :) The anticipated vacancy will be with the Division of Engineering, Geodetic Branch, located in West Sacramento. Some overnight travel is required.
The position is not formally advertised yet, but testing is occuring in which candidates are scored and placed on a list from which the selection will be made. Please see the exam info on the DWR website. Next cutoff date appears to be July 30. (note: it is unclear at this time whether existing lists from other departments can be merged for purposes of the anticipated vacancy, so interested applicants are encouraged to take the DWR exam)
