The Senior Land Surveyor position will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of such projects as construction staking, topographic mapping, boundary determination, hydrographic surveying and monitoring survey contracts or to plan, organize, and direct complex highly technical GIS/LIS mapping through subordinate team leaders or will check all in coming maps, corner records and other survey documents to ensure that the minimum qualifications are met per the Subdivision Map Act, Land Surveyors Act and local ordinances. The Senior Land Surveyor will also have the opportunity to communicate with County agencies, public officials, and government entities regarding policies, procedures, technical issues and other related information.
Under direction to plan, organize and direct complex office or field surveying work through subordinate team leaders: and to do other work as required. Positions in this class are second level supervisors over highly technical survey activities. The office position performs the full range of supervisory activities through subordinate team leaders. Field positions act as project leaders directing three or more survey parties on large survey projects or multiple small projects through subordinate Survey Party Chiefs.
LICENSE REQUIRED
Possession of the required license(s) and/or certifications associated with the assignment.
- Possession of a valid Land Surveyor's License issued by the California State Board for Professional Engineer, Land Surveyors, and Geologists. OR
- Possession of a valid Certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer authorized to practice Land Surveying issued by the California State Board for Professional Engineer, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.
- Possession of a valid California Driver's license, Class C or higher may be required by date of appointment.
