Thanks Ric

Ric,

I didn’t want to take away from anyone’s thread, so I thought I would start a new one.

As I sit back reading some threads I notice a familiar name popping up. Ric7308

Ric - I just wanted to thank you publicly on how much I appreciate you being involved in this forum and being a liaison for all land surveyors. As most of us know Ric is an Executive Officer of the Board and who better to represent the land surveying community.

I know - you could just sit back, say and do nothing (most people in your position would) but you don’t. You listen to what we have to say, good, bad or indifferent. You let us know we are being heard and that is important to me and I think all of us.

Your presence is being felt ……….. THANK YOU

Joe,

I agree and also would like to thank BPELSG Executive Officer, Ric Moore as well as Ray Mathe, Senior Land Surveyor Registrar and Land Surveyor Board member Pat Tami.

I have the opportunity to see these gentlemen at work during Board and TAC meetings. They represent professional land surveyors very well.

CLSA members are fortunate to have the one on one contact with executives at a State agency of this size.

I recently posted about architects showing PL on thier plan without a surveyor being involved...well, here is a readers digest condensed version of what took place for that post/job.

Ric responded to the post and asked me to email him the arch plans.

I emailed Ric the arch site plan and my asbuilt. Told Linda, my client, to also email Ric. Ric responded to her email with his comments.

Linda emailed me and asked what she should do. I told her to make copies of Ric's email and give one to her architect and one to her contractor and stand in the shade and let them work it out.

Linda told me she was being harassed to pay extra money so the construction could continue.

Linda then let me know that she copied Ric's email to her architect and contractor.

A few days ago Linda calls me. She tells me that construction will start the next day. The harassment immediately stopped (Gee , I wonder why?)

Thanks Ric !

Awesome story Paul. Hopefully they have learned their lesson for the future, but we all know they haven't.

The key here is that Ric, Ray and Pat see the role of BPLESG as one of seeking compliance rather than one of enforcing. It may be rather subtle, but the difference, in practice is huge. All three of these gentlemen look to education as the key rather than enforcement after the fact.

The fact that Ric regular monitors this Board and posts here is a credit to both the Board and to BPELSG. This Board has maintained a professional level that allows BPELSG to successful use it to educate.

My thanks to Ric, Ray and Pat as well as all who post here and to the administrators as well as the management of CLSA! I challenge you to find another association's web board that is as successful.

I am lucky to have had the pleasure of working with Ric, Pat, and Ray on the development, and grading of the state LS test over the last 8 years or so. They are what we should all aspire to be.
