Job Description
Gonzales Surveys, Inc. (GSI) is seeking a Lead Land Surveyor for our Sacramento, California office. The Lead Land Surveyor must possess good business skills and the ability to research, bid, calc, draft (CAD), manage, and stake projects. This position will be responsible for overseeing GSI’s overall operations, including but not limited to:
• Oversee day-to-day operations of survey crew
• Market and grow surveying services
• Schedule survey projects
• Perform field duties
• Provide instruction or training to lower level employees
• Prepare record of surveys, parcel maps and lot line adjustments, including previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys
• Prepare legal descriptions, exhibits for easements, rights-of-way and mergers
• Keep accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed
• Provide daily progress reports

The GSI Survey Manager position leads office and field work performed by staff, with market focus across Central and Northern California. The manager will oversee and take professional responsibility for work on boundary, topographic and construction staking surveys. The manager will handle proposals and business development efforts by interfacing with current and potential business partners on project work, as well as focusing externally to seek project opportunities and cultivate positive client relationships. The manager will oversee the performance of all survey projects or tasks.

Required Qualifications:
• Current California Professional Land Surveyor License/LSIT
• Proven leadership capabilities with a minimum 15 years of experience, including progressive levels of responsibility in staff supervision and project management
• Experience in researching record-of-surveys and locating monuments
• Experience in preparing legal descriptions, filing plats, recording surveys, and easements
• Experience in surveying and mapping, including boundary and cadastral surveys, land subdivision, control surveys, construction layout, and topographic mapping
• Experience surveying during construction and preparing as-built drawings
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Effective business development and client relations skills
• Experience with Trimble surveying products, including GPS systems for RTK surveying and robotic total stations
• Experience in the use of AutoCAD/Micro Survey
• Clean driving record and valid driver's license required
