Processing RW5 Files

Post by Sunburned_Surveyor »

We've got some RW5 and CRD files from a total station from the first day of field work on our Chiseled Cross Project. We don't work with RW5 files as part of our office process. I've done so before in SurvCADD XML, but it was a long time ago.

Can any of you guys recommend an office software that can easily process RW5 files?

I'm hoping there is something reasonably priced and easy to use.

Has anyone been able to process Leica RW5 files in Trimble Business Center?

Thanks for the suggestions.

Landon, If you want, send the files to me and I can convert them and at least send them over if those are what I think they are. It sounds like they are raw data files and the CRD files are the coordinate files. Sounds like TDS files. I can probably send over a .txt file and maybe an ascii file.

Let me know what I can do.

RW5 / CR5 came from TDS on HP-48s, and I used TDS Survey Link to convert them, which was included in Autodesk Survey through 2009 iirc. It runs on a 30 day trial if you can find it, and I have a working copy and can convert.

If you have software that can convert TDS "RAW" files, then rename RW5 to RAW and you'd be good to go.

CRD is a Carlson format and Carlson also makes a RW5.

I have Carlson Xport which will export them to various formats such as Fieldbook and SDR.
