One Legal Parcel on 2 jurisdictions?

Post by BoundaryMan »

My client owns one legal parcel. Said legal parcel consists of 3 separate Los Angeles County tax parcels. Can this legal parcel falls into 2 Cities jurisdiction. City planning department said 2 of the tax parcels falls into their jurisdiction, while remaining tax parcel falls into next City's. As such, this project needs 2 Cities’ approval.

How can one legal parcel falls into 2 jurisdictions? Am I missing something?
Any input?

Political subdivision boundaries don't necessarily follow individual parcel boundaries. It's not terribly common, but it's not all that rare either for portions of a legal parcel to fall partially in more than one political subdivision.

What Evan said.

As I recall, there are a number of parcels that span across the Riverside/San Diego County line.

On legal parcel can have more than one tax number. One tax parcel can have multiple legal parcels.

one parcel in lumtiple political jurisdictions

Parcels are legal if they come from a subdivision map or created by a legal conveyance. the political jurisdictions are neither grantor nor grantee so they don't affect the boundary of th elegal parcel

Yes, we have a lot in Los Angeles and the boundary line between LA and Culver City, runs through it. Has to be the dumbest way of establishing boundaries.

IIRC, the Emeryville / Oakland line runs through a Home Depot. Its approvals were delayed because Oakland required all cash registers to be on their side, so they'd get the sales tax. Emeryville wasn't impressed.

my wife's Grandparents owned a house and lot in Healdsburg (near Santa Rosa) which straddled the city limit line. Part was in the City and part was in the unincorporated territory of the County of Sonoma.

The LA/Orange county line runs thru the parking lot a retail building at the SE corner of Beach Blvd and Rosecrans. Shows up on google
Defund govt
To fully fund govt first the national debt would have to be paid. The US Govt is $18 TRILLION in debt, using 350 million people in the USA it would require $51,000 from every man, woman and child to pay it off. And that's just the Federal debt. Did you write your check yet?

There was recently a county boundary line adjustment between LA and Orange County to clean up issues related to inconsistencies between political boundaries and property ownership boundaries. It involved several cities as most of the land area covered incorporated city territory.

State water board considers it to be the dividing line between the counties. More than that I have no idea.
